Wahaha...okay, it seems like I perked some interest in you peeps about tailors yesterday and accidentally guilted others of you. Teehee. :D Instead of answering all the questions in the comment thread from yesterday I'll dedicate a post to it in the Wardrobe From Scratch Series. The next post is a general fit guide, so a post on tailoring would be a great follow-up. Cool?
For today's outfit I'm showing two shoe options, though it's subtle. The outfit felt springy and wedges seemed appropriate, but my toes were cold so I wore it with the booties.
BTW, these pants were also taken to a tailor. These are at least 7 years old, but I hardly ever wore them until about 2 years ago when I discovered style blogs. I almost got rid of them, actually. They look best with heels, but until 2 years ago I thought my only heel choices were professional or dressy looking ones. I didn't realize casual wedges or boots with heels or anything besides pumps and whatever existed. Thanks to my discovery of casual wedges these pants have been saved! I know some of you were looking for non-skinny jean outfits, so you can see the other ways I've worn them here.

I'm not much into skinny jeans (confession: I've never even owned a pair), but this is totally something I could wear! Love it!!
ReplyDeleteI am trying to figure out why trouser denim isn't more popular? I read through all of your links with the trousers and LOVE every single one of them!! Your sense of style is so fantastic! The layering and pattern mixing you do is really, really fantastic. Thanks for all you do!!
ReplyDeleteYay! Kohl's wedges...so close to spring!
ReplyDeleteI love these pants on you...they make your legs look long!
ReplyDeleteLoving the top from F21, it has a really unique pattern! And those jeans are amazing!
ReplyDeleteSuper cute! And makes your waist look SO tiny!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful outfit. I just found your blog this weekend. I am really enjoying it. One of the things that I struggle with in wearing caramel/tan pieces and having black hair. My head looks like a disconnect from the rest of me . LOL. You do it very well. It looks as if there is some tan in your shirt and then the accessories. I will have to try it. Thanks !!!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the print of your top, so pretty!
ReplyDeleteYou have inspired me to really take a good look at my wardrobe and update a few things. I love your outfits and you rock. Keep doing what your doing girly!! GOD BLESS
ReplyDeleteCute top!

This is a lovely outfit, I really need to get my wide leg jeans hemmed so I can wear them! The patten ont he top is gorgeous and works so well with mustard cardis x
ReplyDeleteI love my skinnies but I feel so much more sexy and put together in my trouser jeans.
ReplyDeleteI love love love skinny jeans! I love the look, it's just so clean and goes with so much! Unfortunately, I have big hips and skinnies just make them look terrible. I love the jeans you are wearing! Thank goodness you didn't throw them away! ...wink...
ReplyDeleteI love your blouse today. I'm with you on tailoring, if it doesn't fit write tailoring is a pretty inexpensive alternative to having to buy new.

It's a good thing that you didn't get rid of these pants because they look fabulous as part of this outfit and especially great on you.
ReplyDeleteEverything about this outfit is so "right." I love how versatile your mustard cardigan is. I think I look pretty dreadful in yellow so have avoided the color for years, but the mustard is just so perfect...I may need to try it again!

I know what you mean about the shoes! I do wear heels, but I'm not so clued up on the styles (apart from wedges and stilletos). I bought a pair of brown heels last year and only last week did I find out (thanks to J's Everyday Fashion) that they are called loafer heels! I know! Duh! But, how is a girl to know these things all on her own?
ReplyDeleteI really like this outfit. I'm so glad I found your blog! It's really great to see someone being modest and fashionable.
ReplyDeleteNice top and I love the cardigan! :-)

I've been reading your blog for a few weeks now, and I really love it! It's so simple, but really interesting, and I like reading about people with a style and wardrobe pieces that are similar to mine. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteUm, I really love this top!!! And this look makes me so happy that spring is just around the corner!! Thanks a million for linking up!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteOh I love this outfit with non-skinny pants! I have several pairs of wide-leg pants I have taken in to make "less wide" but still straight leg!
ReplyDeleteI second that non-skinny jeans comment!
ReplyDeleteAre you planning any posts (or have any advice) for making decisions about clothes that you've got in your closet, don't current wear, & aren't "in" right now? For example, I've got 2 sundresses (LOFT) from 2007. I love them. However, the length is a bit long (they both have stitching on the hem), the bodice fit has an empire waist--not necessarily "in" right now, & I honestly haven't worn them since 2007. I've kept them around--probably like you kept your jeans around. I'd love some tips about your thought process in getting rid of things....
LOVE this blog, Audrey. I was in Goodwill today & everything I tried on I thought of your "rules" :)
I'm new to your blog and ABSOLUTELY loving it! :) I just LOVE your style, tips, and ideas! This outfit is so pretty! I love it. I'm a stay at home mom with a big family and your outfits are PERFECT for me to look cute but workable! I can't wait to go shopping soon and pick up some pieces! THANK YOU!
ReplyDeleteThat blouse looks SO cute with that mustard cardi...such a great combo!
