Stupor

Top: H&M (similar, similar)  |  Cardigan: H&M  |  Jeans: Kohl's (similar, similar)  |  Pumps: Target (similar)

Sloooooooow week.  Okay, actually it's been a normal week, but it just feels really long.  I don't think my brain has been working and it's been taking me twice as long as usual to finish things.  And last night I fell into a little stupor as I was boiling a pot of water, and I was |---| this close to giving into a strange urge to touch the pot just to see what it'd feel like.  Glad I snapped out of that one.

The only reason I'm not considering it a miracle that I managed to get dressed this week is because I planned all my outfits for the week on Sunday.  Yes, I am a weirdo who checks the weather for the week and then plans my outfits for each day, but it makes mornings so much quicker!

  5. Very cute outfit! I love those jeans and that top. And I totally know
what you mean about being in a stupor...I feel like I've just been
    floating through this whole week!

  6. Love the look great job! I'm glad that you mentioned that you plan your outfits in advance. I having been telling myself I should do that and you have given me the push to do it, because deciding what to where is too much when your mornings are already busy ; )

  7. I plan my outfits too but end up resorting to my easier sweater and pants look especially when I wake up too tired. Haven't seen you in black in a while

  8. Glad I am not the only one who plans outfits ahead of time.

I also plan all my outfits for the week over the weekend! My friends think I'm crazy. So glad to hear I'm not the only one. It does make getting dressed in the morning so much easier.

I like the bigger buttons on your cardigan. Adds interest to what could be a boring black sweater.

  10. I do the same thing! I'm basically in a fog every single morning, so outfit-picking then doesn't work too well!

  11. I plan my outfits nightly and sometimes for two days. I like the idea of weekly. I will implement that. Btw I love your outfit and I took your advice and got a pair of maroon tights. I am wearing it with my colorblock sweater dress and come cognac boots.

  12. How do you plan your outfits? Do you set them out ahead of time? Or write it down? Or just keep it in your head? I've been wanting to plan my outfits for the week but I don't know how to organize it!

  13. You are definitely not weird. I do the same thing! It does make mornings easier :)

  14. I'm a consultant so I HAVE to pack on the weekends for a week's worth of travel. I always make sure to check the weather first! I don't understand people who don't take the temperature into account and then complain about how it's too hot/cold all day long :)

  16. I love the idea of planning out outfits ahead of time - would you do a post on how you do it? (Do you hang everything for each outfit together? Do you lay them out, or write them down?), and when you're outfit planning, what do you take into consideration (weather, I know, but variety? colors? your mood?)

  17. Planning weekly outfits definitely makes sense! Especially if you're trying to look nice on a weird weather week. If it's cold I tend to just throw on something cozy instead of cute and cozy... haha

  18. I do the same thing, Audrey! I used to stand in my closet forEVER in the mornings like I'd never put an outfit together in my life. I've been planning weekly outfits for close to a year now, and my getting ready time in the morning has literally decreased by a half an hour because of it.

PS. I have a friend who had the same thought as you about the boiling pot of water...except she didn't snap out of it, touched it, and had to go to the doctor for burns. We still tease her about it to this day, haha.

  20. Uh, why have I never thought of that? I plan out my meals for the week but I've never thought to do that with my clothes. So smart since my brain is barely functioning in the morning.

  25. OK. This is one of your best outfits! LOVE LOVE LOVE it! The sharp black cardi is a great color for you. The color of the skinny jeans is fantastic, as well as the fit! Very flattering! Love the neutral shoes too.

  26. I do the same thing on Sunday- I even have a corner of my room set up to hang the outfits and lay out accessories, shoes, and undergarments!

  27. so I already tweeted this at you, but I felt it needed to be repeated: I love this outfit and it really shows how even simple items and styling can look fantastic and unique.

and I really should start planning outfits ahead of time. I generally have a few outfit ideas floating around in my head but the morning of I usually grab for something else.

  29. Hi! I love this outfit, you and your blog! I see that you got your jeans at Kohl's. I was wondering what department you shop in there. I feel so lost when I go in Kohl's ..just wondering if you shop in the Jr's department or in the other ladies areas? :) I understand about the pot, I think some days are just like that.

  31. That's a nice outfit - it's eye-catching! I really like the splotchy blouse - it looks like a more mature print than perfect shaped dots or spots. My teenage daughter wears the dotty clothes so maybe I'll look into splotches. Also, I plan outfits for the following day during the evening before, but planning any more than that doesn't suit me. I rely on how I feel at the time to pick colours or choose between pants and skirts. Everybody is different!

  32. When I was teaching full time I was always super impressed with myself that I got an outfit out and prepped for the following day -- but checking the weather! and doing it for a week! -- I've got to try this!

  34. I am with you...I plan my outfits on Sunday so I am not trying a million things on in the morning...makes for a more peaceful morning! (Plus, my creativity in putting together an outfit works better during the day when I'm awake versus the early morning hours :-)
