Recap: Olive Cardigan

Olive Cardigan options: same in other colorssimilar, similar

I bought this cardi over a year and a half ago, prior to starting this blog, and I wore it often.  I can't remember what I wore it with, but it was loved.  For a long stint after I started this blog for some reason I didn't know how to wear this thing anymore or how to work it into my newly evolving wardrobe.  I almost got rid of it because I wore it so little.

I'm glad to say eventually my style came back around to where I was able to incorporate more of my old pieces into my new style.  I'm glad I kept this cardigan because especially in the last month or so I've been loving it again like it's new.

Olive is a pseudo-neutral, so it's a nice alternative to black, brown, or grey.  If you haven't yet, I suggest you try it!  Also fun tip: it pairs amazingly with dark purple.

It's hard for me to pick a favorite here too, but I think it'd be number 2.  I just love this cardigan with that dress and the tights and boots!

  5. Okay, so pseudo-neutral is my new favorite word. I love colors that are COLORS but still go with lots of other colors. Burgundy, blush, butter yellow, olive, navy, French blue, Oxford blue, plum, and lavender are some of my favorites! Rust and mustard are great too, they just look awful on me. :P

An olive cardigan was already on my fashion wish list because my olive cargoes, skirt, and tank all get soooo much wear!

  11. When I first read the title of this post, I thought it said Olive Garden...

  12. I love all the ways you've worn this cardigan! I bought an olive green sweater the other day and thought about it a little and decided I didn't need it so I returned it. Now I'm kind of regretting that decision, so I'll have to go back tomorrow and see if it's still there (and still on sale). Because I didn't realize olive green was so versatile. ENABLER.

Also, I told you a few posts back that I bought two of the same cardigans (one in heather brown, one in "red" but it's more like a maroony color) and I returned the brown one, but then I went to Target the other day and found a grey one and bought that. So I have two now :) I was looking for a grey one to begin with, so keeping that one was a no-brainer :)

Hope the conference thingy went well! :)

  13. I'm so slow to trying out new colors. For months (years?) everyone has been going on about mustard and I did not get it until I found a mustard cardigan thrifting...and now I can't take it off. I love this olive cardigan on you, and all of the different ways you can wear it, so I'm going to have to jump on this color a little quicker!

  15. Love the blog, I'm a huge fan!! I wanted to ask about the sleeve length or your sweaters. It looks like you often wear your sleeves rolled/cuffed/pushed up, so when buying sweaters do you look for 3/4 or full length sleeves? And also, how do you get your shirt/sweater cuffs looking so nice and not too bulky?

  16. Hi Stacey,

I don't pay attention sleeve length on my sweaters when buying. You're not the first person to ask me about the bulky sleeves, but I honestly don't think I understand what you guys are referring to. I just pull the sleeves of the shirt through, scrunch the cardigan/sweater sleeves up 3/4 of the way, and roll my shirt sleeves up so that it looks nicer. I hope that helps. :)

  17. I have this same olive cardigan and I wear it with everything!!

  18. Where do you buy your cute belts? I am very belt shy, but I think one or two good ones could really improve a lot of my outfits. What would you recommend if I can only afford one or two?

  19. Hi Meghan! Most of my belts are from Target or H&M. My most often worn belt is my thin tan braided belt. I'd say a thin one in whatever your most worn neutral color is (which for me is tan, but maybe your most worn neutral is black or grey or navy).

  20. Thanks so much for your response! I hit Target tonight (no H&M in IA :() and got a few to start. Do you belts bigger than you need so you can do the cute knots with the slack, I'm a size 0/2, but with a small belt, I have very little leftover. Thanks again! I've really been enjoying your site!

  21. I only buy belts bigger so that I can wear them around my natural waist (the smallest part of my torso) or around my hips through the belt loops. The belt knotting just happens to be a byproduct of not wanting to buy the same belt in two sizes to serve each of those purposes. Sometimes it's a cute byproduct though!

  22. I have these in every color from Target. I got both the hunter & olive green this year when they came out. I bought 6 at once online which was a great idea because I got them for super cheap! I've worn the olive one once months ago. This gives me some good ideas on how to wear it so I can wear it more!
