I don't know what it is, but I have a growing appreciation for two-toned items. A while back I bought this necklace from Forever 21 because it was cheap and I was looking for a gold necklace. I thought the gold chain with black leather woven in was cool. Little did I know that it would be infinitely more versatile than my other plain gold chain because it fits either with other black accessories or gold accessories. I know, it sounds like it wouldn't be a big deal but it really makes a huge difference. Similarly, the new chain bracelet that I'm wearing and leopard print items seem to have that versatility, and adding items like that helped to pull together my black and brown outfit. (And yes, black and brown is okay to wear together!)

It's so nice to hear someone say brown and black are okay to wear together! My sister and I argue about this all the time. She and my mother seem to be stuck in old rules about matching clothes and colors. Recently I wore a pair of indigo tights with my red pumps and my mother was like "You need to go home and change those tights to black or gray. I would never put PURPLE with red!!" But they were a very deep, pretty indigo, and I thought they looked kind of cool with the red. Anyway, I digress; I'm just saying thanks for agreeing that we can throw some old rules out the window.
ReplyDeleteI think you look great. Everything works really well together, IMO.
ReplyDeleteperfect with the leopard shoes!

My sister-in-law's number one rule is never to wear brown with black. I never heard it before and I do it quite a lot. I wonder how that became a rule? I'm a bit unsure about animal print, but I like those shoes! I think I might start introducing it into my wardrobe as well. Thanks for the blog. I've been through every post and you've helped me define my style a lot. So thank you for that! :) You've also got me hooked on other style blogs. I never used to style blogs and am pretty new to them but now I read them everyday!
ReplyDeleteI love combining neutrals. I think it looks classy and you can still add a pop of color or print to it to make it interesting. :)

ReplyDeleteGirllll, I'm so glad I saw this post! I've been looking for a chunky gold bracelet, and I was about to purchase a pair from JCPenny for Cyber Monday for $86!!! This one that you're wearing is way more affordable and more "everyday," which is what I was going for :)
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, I agree with you, it is okay to wear black and brown together lol. It took me a while to get on board with it, but now, I'm fully there!
