Parkaraks and Barns

Meet my new favorite jacket!  I've been looking for an anorak type of jacket for nearly a year, but I had given up once I realized that they all cost more than I wanted to pay and/or weren't lined very well.  Then, one fateful day I was at Target and saw this jacket.  I don't think this is considered an anorak because, well, I don't really know what an anorak is, plus Target calls it a parka.  Anorak, parka...whatever it is, it fits the feel that I was going for and it's lined without making you look puffier.  It worked so well on a recent camping retreat, but was also so cute with the girly yellow dress outfit that I showed last week.  I even wore it with Friday's outfit paired with leopard pumps.  Even though you'd think this parkarak thingy is only for rugged, camping types of outfits, I'm finding that it kinda goes with everything!

On another note, let's not talk about how my friend told me that my outfit looked like a barn.  Even if you agree, for my own ego, let's pretend you don't.  That is not the kind of "compliment" people around here like to receive.  Sad times.

  1. I've also been on a search for a "parka like" coat but, what size did you get? Does the coat run small?? Thanks!

  3. I would have to disagree with your friend....those red pants are definitely not "barn". Love the scarf also :)

  4. I like your outfit...I never would have thought to put those pants with that top! I just have to laugh, up here in Canada a parka (parkarak?) isn't really considered part of your outfit. And the puffier the parka the better! In case you're ever looking for an anorak, it doesn't have a front zipper (it slips over your head instead) :)

  5. I definitely did not think barn when I saw this outfit. My first thought was "oh, how cute!" Love everything together. If it makes you feel any better, I've recently gotten into buying more plaid shirts as I'm trying to rework my wardrobe. I bought one Friday and my husband asked me why I kept buying them because I looked like I was supposed to be on a farm. Granted we live in NC, but I have in no way ever been associated with a farm. I tried to explain to him that they were cute and versatile...he didn't get it. We agreed to disagree.

At least she didn't say you looked like the side of a barn? Either way, that's a weird thing to tell someone! I think you look quite cute. My husband once told me my rain boots looked like they belonged in a barnyard. Of course, this is the same guy who told me pointed toe heels look like elf shoes.

You do not look like a barn at all! Way to chic! It's tough to find parka/anorak jackets that don't make you look puffy...I am still looking for it.

  13. I'm normally a S for Mossimo, once in a while a M, and I got the jacket in M. The small fit, but the shoulders were snug for me, and if I wanted to layer anything at all, the medium was more comfortable.

  23. Haha reminds me of the time my husband said I looked like a "sexy gardener" when I wore my cute rain boots for the first time. I'm sure they had good intentions, just a little misguided.

  24. LOL a barn? OK. I don't see it.

And I just noticed your new header! It looks so clean and nice :) Love it! BTW did you ever make a decision re: forums or link ups? :)

  25. Take it with a grain of salt since I am from NC (but, like @eba6de6bbb4fd4df3d3976a821ccc5c1:disqus, am totally not associated with the farm at all!) and I totally LOVE the outfit. You've definitely inspired me to try rocking out the colored skinny jeans - something I have been a little scared to try!
