Dress Love

Dress: Old Navy (similar: one, two, three)  |  Necklace: Old Navy (similar: one, two)  |  Wedges: Target

Okay, I pretty much love this teal maxi dress.  I wore it on Saturday for a work conference and got compliments left and right.  How can you not love a dress that garners attention like that?  Our conferences are not like professional conferences, sooo I would not recommend wearing something like this to one of your work conferences haha.  Except maybe paired with a blazer, which I cannot WAIT to do, but this weather needs to cool down.

Speaking of weather, it's going to be 100 degrees today and tomorrow.  My wardrobe is totally not equipped for that kind of heat anymore, so wish me luck, or else everyone will be subject to me running around without clothes.  No bueno.  Any tips?  (A/C is not often used around these parts since the need for it is so infrequent.)

  2. I have been living in Old Navy T shirt dresses. I even found a cool one at Target. ( mission valley) on clearance for $6. I like them because they are short, and look better than shorts and a tee. My hair has been worn up since the end of June ( what is with. The heat seriously! ) So I have been playing with headbands and necklaces. I heart your blog!

  3. $6? Love it! And Mission Valley--that's "my" Target! If you ever find me meandering around there, say hello. Actually, now that you mention Target, that is one of the places that uses their a/c...so maybe I should take a trip over there...you know, just for the a/c of course...

I just moved to the deserts of Utah from Michigan so I've been battling the heat all summer! I just gave in to it and wear just a little makeup, my hair in a pony tail and as little clothes as possible! Lol. Clearly I'm no help. Lol

  11. Love this look on you! This weather is ridiculous!! I have been searching for a maxi dress all summer but have been unsuccessful because I am short (5'1)! Any suggestions on how I can pull off this look without looking like I'm drowning in a dress?!?! Thanks girl!

It is chilly where I am, so I am jealous of the heat and your beautiful outfit! Did the dress come with the belt as well?

  13. Hi Audrey! I'm a San Diegan, too! I came across your site as I was looking for ideas on how to wear the same exact maxi dress I bought at Old Navy, too! Cute idea with the yellow necklace!

  14. I'm wearing this dress right now. However, I cut it because it was too long an then it shrank in the was so it's more of a midi now. I like how you styled it.

  15. Audrey, it's so lovely. The color is beautiful on you and the maxi length is perfect. Aren't you so over this weather? I know I am !

  16. Thank you! :) And no, the dress did not come with the belt.

  18. Yellow always looks so classy against teal and you've tied it together perfectly with the brown belt. (:

  23. Gorgeous color on you and such a cute dress! 100F? Yuck! Sometimes I carry a hand-held fan. You know the folded paper kind. Good luck.

  24. That dress is beautiful on you! I can see why it got lots of compliments :)

  26. hah i understand about the AC, i'm in los angeles and nobody has AC. DYING HERE.

Anyway, a friend recommended your blog to me a few weeks ago and i read all the articles on here. Very very useful! I like it because you explain things in a simple manner with lots of pictures. I'm not versed very well in fashion and you make it so easy and not overwhelming.

So here comes the creepy part, today i was out shopping and i was reaching for a shirt and then thought "NO! Audrey would say that is NOT remixable!" and i moved on.

this is saving me money too... which is always a good thing. it's a win-win situation -- i'm cheap and i don't like clutter. Finally i am learning how to shop where i can reuse the same items in different ways.

by the way you also inspired me to buy red jeans... now it just needs to be cold enough to wear them!!!!

  27. Hi Reena! Thanks for taking the time to write. :) I'm really glad to hear that things aren't overwhelming and that it's actually helping you save money! I cannot WAIT to wear jeans! I wore white jeans a few weeks ago thinking it wouldn't be that bad, that somehow white would make them less suffocating--bad idea. Totally gross. But good luck with your red jeans hunt!

  29. I love this maxi! I'm a true believer that maxi dresses make people look taller, and it certainly works on you! You look so tall and model-y and glamorous! I love it :)

  30. Love that dress! It's a lot like mine (only 1 in my closet so far) in that it's not overloaded with fabric. It'd be perfect to wear short too! I'm all about wearing mine both ways. It's like having 2 dresses in one. (Major score, in my book!)
    Maximize your maxi

  31. Wow, no AC! Everyone has it here in VA even though we have seasons because of the humidity. Old Navy is great for dresses, and they have petites and plus sizes too. Thanks for all your great ideas:)
