There are so many colors I feel like I have to avoid with red. Cuz, you know, I have that weird fear of not wanting to look like popular holidays and such. Red and green--Christmas. Red, white, and blue--the American Flag. Red and pink--Valentine's Day. Red and yellow--McDonald's. Even though I've pushed myself out of my comfort zone and worn all of those combos, I'm relieved to say that this current combo of red, white and grey was something I could easily get behind, no hesitations.
Happy Friday! And psst...Just a few days left to win free ad space from Secondhand Magpie!

I feel the sme way about those color combos and try hard not to look too much like a walking theme. You look fab and I love your necklace.

I love red with black or brown (which you did with your bag and shoes). Certain shades of red look killer with dark taupe.
ReplyDeleteSo casual chic, Audrey! Love the bright red blazer!

I love how McDonald's made it to popular Holidays ;)
ReplyDeleteBut yay for the blazer and shorts combo!
I love to play with red and try to break color boundaries. Red and salmon is a suitable replacement for red and pink. Teal in place of green. SO fun. (: Anyway, I'm jealous of that blazer, lady.
ReplyDeleteOf course I love the blazer and tell you that every time you wear it :) I love it paired with white and grey and I really love your bag!!!

Excellent color combination, I agree (red blazers are difficult in that way because I always want to pair mine with a white tee & dark jeans. And feel too American flag-y). Love the blazer with the shorts - all around comfortable and laid back, yet elegant.
ReplyDeleteYou do know that McDonald's is not a popular holiday, right? :)
ReplyDeleteNo? It's in my calendar. ;)
ReplyDeleteHahah! Yes, I cannot bear to wear red/green or red/yellow (my school colors) together, but I do like red/white/blue and red/pink, and OF COURSE your pretty combo with the grey. :)
ReplyDeleteI understand your fears completely!

Yes,yes, yes, yes, yes! I hear ya! However, you are right- you can't go wrong with red and white and gray.. It's a nice soft alternative to red and black!
ReplyDeleteThat blazer is too cute!!! And with the grey shorts? LOVE!
ReplyDeletehahaha I love the fear of mixing red with other colors. Cute outfit! That blazer is killer cute!
ReplyDeleteTotally feel ya on the red pairings, too funny! The red and gray (grey?) is super classy though! I think gray is just making everything look classy these days. I love the unexpected red blazer too, so cute!

Great blazer! That's one of my Fall 'wants'.
ReplyDeleteYasi @ Hello, Gorgeous!
Love your blog. You don't look like dressed for a holiday and certainly you don't look like you dressed for Mrs. Ronald.....
ReplyDeleteLove this outfit! So cute. Seriously so funny that you worry about looking like holidays - I do that too! Sometimes I just have to be like "Whatever, Kenzie. Just wear it."
ReplyDeleteI'm totally with you on avoiding red, white, and blue, but just yesterday I saw an ad with a woman wearing red, TAN, and blue. The tan made all the difference- it looked terrific. Maybe the way to avoid looking like anything familiar is to go with an extremely lighter or darker version of one of the colors.
