Easy on the Dressing

Dress: Target  |  Belt:  Target  |  Flats: Old Navy (shop similar)  |  Tote: ebags.com (shop)

No, the title of today's post is not about salad dressing.  I'm talking about the days you want to look nice but don't have enough alert brain cells to do it.  I had a loooooong weekend in Chicago being locked in a recording studio for 11 hours at a time, ending at insane hours of 2am and 4am.  Needless to say, I was a zombie.

I dug up this old outfit post from another zombie-like day last week.  It's a very similar look to the last time I featured this dress, but instead with some animal print, because animal print always makes it look like you tried.  And of course, on one of the days that I put the least effort into getting ready my co-worker tells me how nice I look.  See, animal print = magic.  Even with a dress that feels like pajamas.  Are you into animal print?

  1. I want to try animal print, but it makes me so nervous. A little pop like what you have on might be a way to start. I just love the way it looks on others!

  5. Haha, those days are why I have simple but elegant dresses as a wardrobe staple! Just like this one :) YOu've gotta have something in your wardrobe that you can literally throw on without a thought (just a belt or scarf and some shoes) and look put together.

  6. I have (and love) this dress. Your site helped me shop my closet
yesterday - I didn't do a belt, but I paired this with a crisp white
cardigan, white strappy sandals, and bright teal beaded necklace. I got a
lot of compliments. I love this look. I tried really hard to get this
tan belt from Target to work with the navy dress (http://www.target.com/p/merona.... I couldn't get the loop/tie right. I'll have to remember how you did it in these pictures! Awesome!

  7. I wanted to wear a similar dress yesterday, but then I realized I would've needed to shave my legs. I was up all the night before with 3 sick babies, so I went with jeans instead, lol. I really like that belt though. I'm a little afraid of animal print, but that belt is just the right amount. Maybe I'll have to look for something similar.

  13. I love how you can throw on a dress, add some accessories and rush out the door in the summer time. If only winter layering was so easy! Love the addition of the leopard belt, it pops against the deep plum of your dress.

  16. I'm all for comfortable, especially on a zombie day! ;) I do like animal print.. in small doses. It's one of those things that become too much of a good thing really easy.

  17. Co workers really have a knack for doing that!

  18. Adding a little bit of animal print to any outfit makes a big difference, and looks really smart. When other ladies wear print, that's what catches my eye. I really like your belt & I have one too!

  19. Okay, here's the deal: I keep seeing your outfits and tips on Pinterest, so after many months of landing on your site, I thought it was about time I became a follower {via GFC AND Bloglovin'}. Just thought you should know that you're totally rocking Pinterest!

You're also rocking that hair! I love your hairstyle. Any chance I could convince you to post pics of it from the back and sides? I know that may sound like an odd request, but I'm going to chop my hair off soon and I love your hairstyle.

Also, I just wanted to comment on the realness {is that a word?} of your wardrobe. I have visited many style blog in the past and, though some of them are real girls wearing outfits I could see myself wearing, others only focus on creating sexy, extreme outfits that I would NEVER wear. I know you're a professional working woman, so please don't take this the wrong way, but I love that your outfits work just as easily for women, like me, who are stay-at-home/work-at-home moms.

Now that I've taken up enough of your time... Have a wonderful Thursday! ;)

  20. I have a pair of leopard print sandals and a belt. I've got a scarf on my list. I think that's all I'll have though, just accessories.

  21. All Hail the pajama dress! We should find out who else has this dress in their closet and have a Dress-Off one day.
And you're absolutely right- in my opinion a little animal print or a scarf really make it look like you tried WAY harder than you actually did. Kudos, my dear.
