Weekend Outfit

Tee: Target  |  Jeans: Lucky Brand via Nordstrom Rack (similar)  |  Sandals: Old Navy (similar)  |  Scarf: Old Navy (shop)  |  Tote: ebags.com (shop)

This outfit makes me so happy.  Not sure why.  I also don't know why I bothered to call this a "weekend outfit" because weekend and weekday outfits are almost synonymous for my lifestyle.  Either way, this was a perfect outfit for my weekend of church band rehearsal and errands.

Let's talk about details for a second.  This outfit is all about the details, which is a huge thing I've learned over the last year of blogging.  At the risk of being a freaking broken record, I have to say this because I still marvel at it: One year ago I was on the verge of getting rid of these jeans, I didn't own a single plain tee because I thought basics were useless, and I only wore scarves in December.  But little details like rolling up pant legs, tucking the shirt in just a tiny bit, and adding a lightweight scarf make the most standard basics--jeans and a white tee--into a put-together outfit that makes me all sorts of happy.  Basics + details = win in my book!

  3. You are right. At first look of this outfit I thought: "Really nice!" And then I realised: "It's really just jeans and a tee and a scarf!". I mean that in a good way as in: I could also have this look easily and look put together. :)

  7. For the longest time I had issues buying "plain" tops... but then I found myself with so many colorful wildly printed skirts and cardigans... and nothing to pair them with.  Basics like white and black tees and tanks may be boring to buy, but oh-so-essential!

  20. I love how you can show that basics can be elegant and chic. Every outfit isn't supposed to be an "OUTFIT" Does that make any sense at all? I  still feel like so much of my blogging choices are based on being a big "OUTFIT"- even though it is actually what I wore that day, it doesn't seem natural. Your choices are always natural and not fussy. I want to move towards that in my own personal style.

  22. Whaaaat?  What do you mean?  I feel like we dress very similarly!  Cute dress, a contrasting colored cardigan, and cute shoes.  Bam.  Well, to me at least, your style doesn't seem fussy at all.  It seems very natural!

  25. Really, really, really like your "weekend" oufit. Looks well put-together but is so easy. It's what I'd wear on a weekday for a quick school drop-off. Scarves are my happy place!

  26. Love that scarf!  Thanks for the reminder that I have a few light summery scarves that I need to pull out and use.  It could be sunny and 80 degrees outside but I have to dress for the air conditioning in the office.  I think my coworker called it "penguin-land" LOL
