Stoke of Boldness

Tee: Target (shop)  |  Jeans: Target (shop; similar; similar)  |  Necklace: Old Navy  |  Wallet: Gussy Sews (shop)

Normally I'd be scared to wear solid color from head to toe with no neutrals to hide behind.  But I was injected with a stroke of boldness after spending a week in Texas with my firey Puerto Rican friend who wore bright green jeans with a hot pink tee, plus her platinum blonde dyed hair.  And jewelry.  Lots of shiny jewelry.  I channeled her all day as I wore this outfit.  Plus, if I'm honest, with these mint jeans being on the pale side it didn't seem quite as scary.  I don't know if I could do bright green and hot pink head to toe, but maybe someday.  I love how fresh, light, and summery this outfit feels!

(Only after half a day in it did I realize I recently did a mint and tangerine outfit.  Well, here's to another one!  Also, I was having a hard time getting the color right on these jeans, so I gave up.  I think it's close, but these are indeed mint jeans.)

Also, check out the cute little wallet that was sent to me by Gussy Sews.

  3. One of my daughter's favorite outfits is a bright green and white striped tee with hot pink shorts and sneakers.  She looks like a really cute watermelon :)  Of course, she's 3, and hot pink is practically a neutral for 3 year old girls!
I like your more muted approach to wearing head to toe color.

I used to hate seeing green and orange together, because it reminds of the highly annoying Oompa-Loompas song.  But I'm slowing getting over that certain color combination in clothes, as anything goes.  I'm loving the pastel colors of mint and tangerine that you've put together.  Cute necklace and wallet!

  14. This is so lovely Audrey. The orange and mint go so well together. I saw those jeans at Target yesterday and I was deciding whether or not to get them not sure what I would wear with them and I still haven't jumped on the colored jeans bandwagon yet. Now I may have to go get them.

  17. Haha, that is true.  But my friend was from Florida, where the bold color wearing still holds true!

  22. Love the outfit! And shouldn't mint jeans be considered a neutral anyway? What do they not go with? ;)

  28. I have seen these jeans on a few blogging ladies and they are fab! I tried them on, but the fit wasn't great on me so I had to pass unfortunately. So jealous! By the way, just started following your blog and it's great, keep up the re-mixes, it's inspiring!

  29. Thanks, Lindsay!  Great to hear from you.  :)  Bummer the jeans didn't work out.  They actually stretch out a little after just a few minutes--dunno if that helps.  They were a little spandex-like on me at first, but after about 10 minutes they loosened up nicely.  Same was true after washing them.

  32. Ok, I literally shopped for mint colored jeans the other day and found nothing! Target had them but not in my size, but duh, I should have looked online! I almost settled for mint sweatpants from TJ Maxx, but I have some dignity. :) By the way, this might be my all time favorite outfit. Gorgeous.

  37. They looked weird on me at first!  Really spandex-like.  They stretched out after just 5-10 min and fit well for the rest of the day, though!

  38. I love how firey friends can help a person think, "well, if they can wear such a bold ensemble and look good, surely I can wear muted solid colours with no neutrals to hide behind!" They help you be bolder in your style which is inspirational! You look very summery.

  43. Bahaha I think you've said that second to last sentence like 7 times.  They don't sell these jeans online, but you can search for which store near you has your size in stock.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Yeah!!!  I have 5 so far.  Trying not to get more, but I can't help it when they keep coming out with new colors.  I'm thinking of starting to get some scoop necks instead, too.

  45. Love the outfit!  Where are your shoes from?

  46. Target!  From last summer, but they were still in stores recently.  I just checked right now and they're sold out online, though.
