Snicker With Me Please

Top: Forever 21 (similar #1, similar #2, similar #3,)  |  Mint jeans: Target (similar #1, similar #2, similar #3)  |
Wedges: Kohl's (shop)  |  Clutch: DSW (shop, more colors here)  |  Necklace: Old Navy  |  Belt: H&M

So, you know how you pin some outfits on Pinterest that you just think are pretty but never think you'll actually be able to wear?  I pinned this one back in August/September-ish thinking I'd never wear such fanciness or own anything that color, but I kept it around simply because I found it so, so pretty.  Little did I know that mint jeans would someday be in the picture--and in my closet--and enable me to recreate this look in a wearable-for-everyday kinda outfit.  Pinterest strikes again!

I'm actually in Madison, WI right now for work!  (But I'm posting outfits that are backed up from last week.)  I wore my mint jeans in another outfit today and it was kind of funny to be around people who aren't caught up on trends (I'm referring to some of my coworkers from around the country, not the residents in Madison) and who still don't know what to do with colored pants.  I've been getting both looks of intrigue, but more funny looks than anything.  At least I now have you guys to snicker about it with.

I'm surprised anyone would be weirded out by those pants, even aside from being trendy they're just such a perfect mint shade. I love them!

  5. Seriously, you should ad a pin it button to your blog posts. I have no idea how to do it, but I've seen it on other blogs. I am so pinning this. :) Also, I'm at the point where I might just have to dye my own mint jeans.

  8. You look awesome! I've had some Pinterest to reality moments like that too - how fun to grow in your style. And those confused people just don't know what they're missing...

I LOVE this outfit! So simple yet it makes a great statement.  I also love your choice of necklace -- yellow is the perfect complement here :).

  11. That's humorous that Madison isn't up on the trends, considering what a college town it is!

This is SO similar to an outfit I bought before I went to New York earlier this month. I'm so proud that I'm more fashion forward these days! My jeans are a much brighter green, but the top is almost exactly the same (I got it from F21 too). I wore a bright orange necklace with it and wedges, and I totally had fun wearing it. :)

  17. Haha well it's not actually the Madison ppl. It's my coworkers from all over the country.

  19. Love that lace top with the pendant! So cute! And I agree with being around people not as up on fashion trends. It's funny as a teacher for other teachers to ask why I am so dressed up and things like that. I just think I am in normal clothes, but they consider it unusual!

  20. I love the splash of yellow!

I'm wearing green denim capris today. I have gotten one compliment and a bunch of weird looks today.

  23.  That makes much more sense!  I work at a high school so my wearing of trends is greeted with a smile (by the teenagers... sometimes my adult coworkers are confused)

  24. Most of the time the things I wear are complimented left and right in Portland and anywhere else I get blank stares.

  28. You look great! I still can't get my hands on the right pair of mint jeans, but I seriously love the way they look. Also, I love how your shirt always looks tucked in at the front, but I can never get mine quite as neat. Is there a trick to it?

  29. Hey now, not everyone in Madison is behind on trends ;)

Girl - I love this outfit! The matching shoes, belt and bag, the mint with the gorgeous yellow necklace. So perfect!
I know what you mean about the rest of the world not being in touch with blogger style. I get weird looks when I wear a statement necklace. The great thing is the people giving me the weird looks are usually in jammies and slippers. In public. And I'm the weird one. Huh. Go figure. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  31. Haha sorry!  I did not mean to imply at all that the Madison people were the ones giving me weird looks.  It's actually my coworkers from all around the country who are giving me weird looks.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Usually I tuck the shirt in completely, and then pull it out from the back.  If it just tuck it in to the front right off the bat, it looks messy for me too.  As I'm typing this I've tried 4 ways to describe why pulling it out from the back makes a difference, but none of the made sense.  Maybe try that for now and if it still doesn't look right I can try to put together a visual for you since you're not the first person that's asked about it.  Try it and let me know if you still need a visual!

Gorgeous jeans and they look perfect with your lace top.

  36. I know! I didn't intend to imply anything about the people in Madison in regards to trends and stuff--I was referring to my coworkers from around te country as the ones giving me weird looks, etc. :)

  37. Love this whole look. Casual and chic but unfussy and complicated. Keeping things simple is the way to go.  Love the pop of yellow with the necklace! Your accesories are always on point!
