When I start to notice that I'm reaching for the same items even though I have 900 million possibilities in my closet, I hone in on pieces I haven't worn in a while to be intentional with them. I know there's tons of outfits to be made with pieces like this--I just need to pay attention to them.
This red pleated skirt is one of those items, last seen here. I intended to pair this skirt with this top when I bought the skirt, but it seemed so easy that it felt like cheating. So, since I'm obsessed with this necklace (I told you I've been wearing it a lot!), I gave it a shot and wound up loving how the color adds an interesting twist to the red skirt! Seriously, an accessory can freshen up an outfit like whoa.

I do the same thing with reaching for the same items - good for you in being intentional about using other ones... I better do this too, or else whittle my closet down to the approximately six items I've been re-wearing. I would totally wear this necklace with every outfit though - seems like it would work with EVERYTHING, and it's definitely a great twist with red!

I love when I realize I get obsessed with a piece in my closet because, honestly, the pieces that work best in my life tend to be the ones I bought kind of impulsively while thrifting. That being said, you're right; you've worn this necklace a lot. (:
ReplyDeleteI do the same thing--I get on a "kick" of wearing something all the time (for me right now, my chambray shirt) so I try to pair it with different things. I love that necklace, it adds a unique touch to the classic red and black combo you're working!

ReplyDeleteThat skirt is adorable! I have been lusting after a skirt like that for a while now...I may need to bite the bullet and purchase one. I do a similar thing as you - I wear certain articles of clothing in cycles. If I find something I like, I try to find as many ways to wear it as possible.
