Tiny Adjustments

Dress: Target  |  Denim jacket: Forever 21  |  Wedges & Booties: Target

Shoe indecision.  (Such a first world problem.)  My natural inclination is a clean, streamline look with the wedges, but I like the subtle ruggedness of the cowboy booties paired with the denim jacket.

Speaking of this jacket, I think it's reached the decade mark!  Still going strong, though.  I almost got rid of it approximately one million times, but last year I decided that this bad boy was here to stay.  What changed my mind?  I finally realized that the simple act of rolling the sleeves gave this old-timer a profound face lift which sparked new life in it.

The plain sleeves are fine, but rolling the sleeves makes the outfit a tad sharper, which is a plus in my book!    Don't you just love how significant one tiny adjustment can be?

  1. Is this a recent Target dress? I love it! If so, can we have more info?

  3. I get why you like the boots, but I must say I'm partial to your wedges. =) I like the idea of rolling the sleeves. I have a really nice jean coat that I haven't worn in years, but haven't gotten rid of it yet. I'll have to try it now! I'm excited! =)

  6. I just love your blog...Such great ideas. Any chance you can give a little side view. You mentioned your shoes were wedges and I'd love to see what they look like from a little side peek in a photo...as well as the bootie. I am trying to decide if I am a wedge loving gal.

  7. Here's a side view of the booties: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-myAVnSm2eu0/T3vhz5ZqvCI/AAAAAAAADPY/uR0jrAldAng/s1600/20120403f.jpgSorry, I don't have a side view of the wedges, but I'll keep that in mind next time I wear them.  I wear them a LOT, so it shouldn't be too long until then!

  9. I think I like the dress with the booties a little better...it toughens up the floral print. :) This weekend I'm going to my parents' house to see if my jean jacket from HS still fits me, hehe.

  11. It's pretty recent, and it's still in stores, but online I can only find the petite version: http://www.target.com/p/Merona-Petites-Easy-Care-Easy-Wear-Dress-Multi-Print/-/A-13921634

  12. Certainly there aren't tons of things worth keeping in your closet that long, but I so wish I had kept my jean jacket from 8-9 years ago! There were years I didn't wear it and finally got rid of it - so last year I bought a new one. Love how it looks with dresses & colored jeans, and your sleeve roll is a great trick for updating!

  13. What a difference the boots and jacket with rolled up sleeves makes!  Love this outfit.  I wish I would have kept my denim jacket...now I can't find one anywhere that I like!  ;(

Audrey, I love your blog. I make sure I check this every night before going to bed so I can get fresh, new ideas for my work outfit the next morning. The way you show us all how the tiniest tweaks can change an outfit, pure genius! Since I started reading your blog I have been getting tons of compliments and them saying how "put together" I look. Thanks Audrey!!!

  22. I totally love the outfit with the booties!  And I had a similar dilemma with a denim jacket from junior high (can we say, early 90's) yikes!  I think it finally made it to the donate pile about two summers ago.  Wouldn't you know I'm kicking my self now?  Ugh.
Love your blog!  Take a break and don't stress about posting if you don't want to.  Unless you've gotten to the point where writing for your blog is a full-time paying job, your blog should firstly be for YOU.  Don't worry.  We'll stick around.  =)
