Teal & Orange

Top: Old Navy  |  Moto jacket: Forever 21 (shop)  |  Skirt: JCPenny  |  Shoes: Urban Outfitters (shop)

I don't work in an office, but sometimes I like to pretend I do, like the day I busted out this teal pencil skirt for the first time.  I had vague ideas for how to style it, none of which I loved, but I kept it anyway because, well...a teal pencil skirt at $20?  C'mon!  Teal and pencil skirts.  Two of my superficial loves.

I was determined to figure it out eventually, and I wanted to test my closet to see if all the work I've put into building a remixable wardrobe paid off.  Have my closet and my remixing skills gotten to the place where I can buy nearly anything and come up with an outfit for it without having to buy new things to go with it?  (And come up with 2 more outfits?)  I'd say success!  I really like the springiness of this outfit.  Just looking at it brightens my mood!  Just in time for it to rain later this week...boo.

  5. Most definitely a success!  This outfit looks really polished and professional, but is young and fun at the same time.  The skirt was definitely a good investment. :)

  6. Audrey, I have the skirt too, and I agree, it was too cute to resist for the price.  I've been reading your blog for a few weeks now, and you have so inspired me!  I am old enough to be your mother, but your ideas are timeless/ageless.  I love fashion and clothes, but  I have too many times stood in my closet, which is packed, and couldn't figure out what to wear.  Thanks so much for your great advice/ideas/photos, because now I have lots of choices...which were already there, I just couldn't see it.  I love many of the blogs (which I have newly discovered through Pinterest, but yours is the most practical for someone who can't spend bazillions on clothes.  Love it!

  14. This is one of my favorite outfits, Audrey!!  Probably has something to do with the fact that I don't work in an office either but love to dress for it anyway..

  15. I bought it about a month ago, but they only have tall sizes left!  Sorry :(  They have other colored pencil skirts, though.  Check the JCPenny Worthington brand.

  18. Ooo, love the teal pencil skirt!  Cute shoes to put with it, too.  Every time I see those UO heels on people, they always look a different color.  Maybe they're like mood heels and change colors depending on the wearer's mood.

  20. Haha.  Well, these shoes come in two different colors that are similar.  One is red-orange (slightly more red) and the other is orange-red (slightly more orange, which is what I have).  So maybe that's why they look like a different color?

  21. i love this - those shoes are fantastic, and you've given me an idea of a top (since i have the same one!) to wear with a skirt i made this past weekend out of a very similar blue colored fabric.  i'm glad this all came together for you!

  23. Addicted to your blog :-)Tuesday, April 10, 2012

YOU ARE AWESOME! I just came across your blog and I am ADDICTED to it. :-) I love all your outfits! I have a closet full of clothes, some that I have not even worn because I bought them without thinking too much or I still feel out of my comfort zone if I wear them... Long story... But I really want to learn how to clean and organize my closet and get the most out of it (plus I need to learn how to get rid of some items)! I also love Target (among other stores), I recently purchased the Merona v-neck cap sleeve value dress in several colors (wrong choice? I added 5 dresses to my closet in the snap of a finger), oops! I am looking forward to learning more thanks to you! Keep up the good job!

  27. You are so sweet!  I'm drooling over the thought of getting into your closet with those unworn clothes and helping you put together outfits!  I'm sure you have TONS of great outfits in there waiting to be discovered.

  29. I really like these colours together!
And I like when I see that the clothes come from stores I know and could afford. Isn't inspiration better when you can actually relate to it? I think so.

  30. Well I think you nailed a look with that cute skirt! I have a similar pencil skirt, and I think I'll have to wear it with orange the next time I bust it out!
