Red blazer: c/o Daisy Rae | Top: Target | Jeggings: New York & Company | Necklace: Forever 21 | Wedges: Target (shop)
Last Thursday Tammy invited me to a tour of West Elm's summer collection. I donned my trusty red blazer as I toured the store and its beautifully vibrant colors! (See Tammy's recap post of the West Elm tour.)
If you've read this blog for a while, you might remember that I don't like wearing outfits reminiscent of things like popular holidays or the American flag. I've slowly been breaking those qualms, and with this outfit I just went for it! Red, white, and blue, and stripes. BAM. But, because I talk a big talk and can't really walk the walk, I added a little turquoise to distract a wee bit from the American flag vibe. And besides, turquoise and red? Yes, please.

I can understand not wanting to dress in holiday colors - it can come off really costume-like. But blue and red (and turquoise) work so well together, so this outfit is a win for me!
ReplyDeletethat looked like so much fun!! and I LOVE this blazer. and you made me laugh with your anti flag dressing desires. I'd have to agree, except that this outfit looks awesome!!
ReplyDeleteI completely understand with the 'themed clothing'. I can't stand wearing black and orange or red and green together. I also now avoid my alma mater's colors: red and black! This is a really chic version of the flag though! Now, if you had sparklers coming out of your hair, I'd say you've got your toes to the line. :)

For what it's worth I totally did not get flag from this - just classic elegance and a perfectly polished casual look. Great blazer!

I don't wear themed clothes either! I love wearing red, I love wearing green, I refuse to wear them together! I'm grateful that a holiday hasn't called dibs on the purple/yellow/pink combination.

Ok...so you totally don't look 'flaggy'. The stripes look great with that blazer...And I think you've inspired me to try out this color combo ; )
ReplyDeleteOh man... I think you look adorable, I am sorry that I said you look patriotic. I meant it as a compliment I swear. :)
ReplyDeleteLove your style =)
Ahahahaha no worries! I took it as a compliment haha.
ReplyDeleteI am the SAME WAY about wearing US flag colors, or holiday colors (particular Christmas or Halloween). I have yet to get over it.
ReplyDeleteAlso, love that red blazer.
And yes to red & turquoise. I'm actually wearing that combo today too. :)
Gorgeous, love this outfit!! Just stumbled across your blog, love it! I'm your newest follower :)
ReplyDeleteHaha ok good! =)

New shoes or old shoes? I'm looking for a great casual nude pair!
ReplyDeleteI think turquoise and red have always looked awesome together. The turquoise instead of blue makes it a little less American-flag-like :)
ReplyDeleteHi Katie! Thanks so much for following and for saying hi! :)
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't look too American flag at all! I love the turquoise to give the outfit a bright pop. I've been buying only red pieces lately, so I'm turning into a walking Canada flag. Such is life, as long as you like what you wear who cares! :P
ReplyDeleteLove this Audrey! The red blouse is fabulous, and the turquoise necklace looks so pretty!

The necklace is the perfect touch to distract from the 'Americana' vibe. You look totally cute :)
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't have thought American flag, even without the turquoise, although I love that touch. And I must pick up that red blazer - it's such a beautiful piece.
ReplyDeleteI think if your top had more blue in it, it would look flag-y. Love that touch of turquoise. Nice outfit!
ReplyDeleteWow this is fantastic! I love the way it's organized and it's super inspiring! Thanks for sharing this!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh...my comment was supposed to go on the 8 pieces 14 outfits post. Whoops. I like this outfit too though!
