I'm linking up at Frills for Thrills for CopyCats! My inspiration:

I'd like to tell you that I wore the second version of this outfit with the red blazer, but if I'm honest, I wasn't that brave. Although I like it better, I couldn't bear the thought of showing up at my work meeting with a pink shirt, bright orange shoes, AND a red blazer and all of the comments I'd get. I felt like a pink shirt and orange shoes was already pushing it, and I chose normalcy over style blogger cool points. Plus, so much of how an outfit looks on you has to do with the confidence with which you wear it, so if I was feeling sheepish about what I was wearing, it probably wouldn't have gone well!
On another note, I turned 29 yesterday! Cray-zay. And I've gotta say, I feel kind of awesome about it. I mean, speaking of confidence, I feel the most rooted in myself that I've ever felt. I was going to post yesterday some reflections upon turning 29, but I was way too busy. Our best friends are in town with their newborn, and this weekend is the official celebration of my birthday. If you follow me on Instagram, you will not be surprised to hear that the celebration includes carne asada tacos (see here).
How are your weekends looking?

I think the pink shirt + red blazer look amazing on you: honestly much much flattering than the jacket. Maybe you could change your shoes to something more toned down in order to wear it round and about? The combination really does look gorgeous on you and you shouldn't give up on it.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! I love a birthday weekend... And I love this Kendi inspired outfit on you! Sometimes when I want to try venturing into a new cool style blogger realm, I wear it out to do errands or something where I don't know anyone. Builds a little confidence first :)
ReplyDeleteWow! Great copy cat look, and you totally awesome! Good for it next time :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a great birthday, and as always I love that brown moto jacket... where was it from?
I love your copy cat outfit! But do understand the lacking confidence to wear certain things to work! Both outfits look really cute though! Hope you have fun celebrating this weekend!
ReplyDeleteYou look great in both of those outfits, but I agree, having the confidence to wear the outfits is what makes or breaks it! AND, your outfits and combos give me confidence to wear things I otherwise wouldn't!
ReplyDeleteHappy late birthday--I hope you kept your Target purchases!
Ca-yooot! I think you can totally pull off the color blocking! Knew that was a kendi inspired outfit ;)
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! And I love how you translated this outfit - it looks stunning on you (and Kendi too).

Aw, happy belated birthday! I'm sad you didn't wear the second outfit out, because you look amazing! I love the colors together.
ReplyDeleteI just love that leather jacket you wear - it's so versatile and looks great with your skin!
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday :)
Happy belated!!! You should've totally rocked that outfit to work. I'm in need of some fun blazers :)

I really love the pink/orange/red together but I'm not sure I'd be able to wear it to work either! Sometimes people in real life don't understand fashion. Enjoy your birthday celebrations this weekend, Audrey!

ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to you! I turn 29 this year, too! Still can't believe how close I am to 30. Hope you had a great day and you definitely pull this outfit off!

I love the pink and red together!! :) I know what you mean dressing blogger ish at work. I been fighting being sick but didnt want to call out of work for reasons XYZ. The other day I didnt even pay attention to what I put on, and got so many comments it was awkward.

Hey I found your blog about a month ago (even though this is my first comment, lol) I just wanted to let you know how wonderful and refreshing it is that your posts always feature truly affordable and wearable looks! I live in a humid climate so I can't do all the cute layering you do but seeing that a lot of your wardrobe and accessories come from target and old navy- two stores I never really considered buying my clothes at before seeing your blog- is super inspiring. :)
ReplyDeleteBTW, I'm turning 29 soon and feeling pretty darn awesome about it as well!
I love the pick top with the red blazer!!!! (I wonder why I love the red blazer? LOL) But it is true, yo must feel great in what you are wearing and it looks great with the moto jacket too :-)

Happy birthday! You did a great job with the outfit, and you're right, it looks better with the blazer but unless you have the confidence to carry it it won't work at all! xxx
ReplyDeleteLove the bright neon tee!!! So much fun yet casual!
ReplyDeleteI Love the colors!! casual yet filled with pizzazz :)

I love the red blazer combo, but I totally know what you mean! I'd be so intimidated and self conscious if I wore that to work :) and happy birthday!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm loving all the colors in this look! You pulled it off beautifully. Thank you so much for participating and happy birthday!!!
ReplyDeleteWell, first off, happy belated birthday!
ReplyDeleteI do love this outfit with all of the color, it is so bright and happy looking, but I also really like the version with the brown leather jacket.
Happy Birthday! Looking forward to reading some birthday reflections :-)
ReplyDeleteI really do love the pink and red combination on you!
I love the red jacket look! I understand that it's hard to get out of your comfort zone, though, even when you know it's cute. Sometimes I just make myself do it, though, and before long that range has become comfortable for me! I used to feel embarrassed to wear high heels to church, and now I'd feel weird if I didn't wear high heels because I do it ALL THE TIME! Same thing with wearing belts over my outfits! It's funny to me now that I was ever embarrassed of it!
ReplyDeleteLove the second look the best! You look amazing!
ReplyDeleteLOVE both jackets, but love the red and pink look the best!
