Rosette necklace: c/o Seek First (shop)
Because of this colored bottoms thing I've been on a mad hunt for skirts since I started this blog. Remember, I started with none. Zilch. And, I want 'em reasonably priced and modest! Surprisingly, I found a bunch of skirts at Forever 21 that weren't too short, and this navy skirt is one of them. So happy! Where do you guys buy skirts? (Besides Ruche and ModCloth.)
Also, how cute is this rosette necklace? Are you guys into rosette accessories? I didn't think I could pull them off, but I'm kind of starting to love them. And, good news? YOU get a chance to win one on Sunday from Seek First! Stay tuned. :)

I think the rosette necklace is adorable and I'm loving the length of that skirt. Perfect for work!
ReplyDeleteI love this entire outfit top to bottom - perfection!!
ReplyDeleteawww love rosettes from seek first!! :D
ReplyDeleteHot pink and navy is one of my favorite color combos! I buy a lot of skirts at F21 too and I also like Express for pencil skirts. :)

Love rosettes. I am always skeptical of purchasing one, but after seeing you rock it I just
ReplyDeletee-mailed my mom the link so hopefully it ends up in my Easter basket. I love the gray, yellow, and white one.
Love that your skirt is from F21, I can never find any of a decent length.
Audrey, I found your blog through Lilly's Style, and you are so lovely. I've been enjoying all the outfits that you put together, but haven't posted to say "hi" yet. I really like this combination of blue and pink, and that necklace is gorgeous! ~an avid follower :)
ReplyDeleteHey! Thanks for stopping to say hi with your kind words. I'll swing by your blog to say hi. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Audrey! I love reading your blog and seeing what great pieces you put together! I love the Old Navy top in both colors, might need to pick that one up! Did you find it ran true to size? As far as skirts, I love to buy skirts on ebay, lots of great choices! Anthropologie as you know, always has great pieces that you can catch on sale! Keep blogging, you are doing great!
ReplyDeleteWithout exception, my skirts are from H&M, F21, and vintage. If you're looking for fun and modest skirts, I'd suggest going to Goodwill or a cheap thrift shop. Sometimes there are really fun/crazy/delightful vintage pieces there that can even be taken in or hemmed if they don't fit off the hanger. I actually have the red version of the skirt you're wearing here...and just LOVE it, it's so versatile and has a really nice line. I like the belt you've chosen to wear with it, just perfect, wish I had it! :)

Thanks, Suzanne! I'm usually size S in Old Navy, and the S fit me perfectly in store. However, I had a hunch that the material would shrink, so I sized up and got M. It indeed shrank after hand washing cold and air drying, and now it fits me perfectly.
ReplyDeleteI bought that same belt a couple weeks ago - couldn't resist the adorableness and the price- but I haven't found a way I love it styled yet until your outfit... So cute. (And wow on the appropriate length F21 skirt - I never even bother with theirs because of that, but I'm checking this one out!)
ReplyDeleteI second the Goodwill idea. I'm not generally crazy about thrifting but
ReplyDeleteskirts don't really wear out very easily so you can find used ones in
great condition.
For modesty with shorter skirts I always wear biker shorts or leggings underneath.
Also, for longer length skirts, try shopping in the Tall section. They have a lot of the same stuff but it's longer.
ReplyDeleteYou find such great things at f21.... I am jealous... they stink in MA. They are over crowed with clothes so its hard to shop, and everyone works there its awful. (It takes me a lot to say that about a retailer). Old Navy as some good skirts!

That's awesome, Jess! Tell your mom that you can get 20% off with code TOGETHER, too!!
ReplyDeleteI love navy as a neutral and I love the pairing of colors here. I always run into issues finding skirts. I'm oddly shaped so F21 skirts never hang right and my Old Navy only seems to carry sack skirts. I've had luck in past years at places like Talbots but the skirts are pricey so I end up choosing them only as investment pieces and not trendy ones. I'm going on a scouting trip this afternoon so maybe I'll find some good ones out there.
ReplyDeleteThrift stores!! Almost every single one of my skirts is from a thrift store. Two pointers: one, be willing to shop the whole selection and two, don't allow whatever size a skirt may claim to be deter you. Try.it.on.
ReplyDeleteFavorite belt, favorite skirt, favorit top and favorite necklace! Basically it's all my favorite :) I was just thinking about making a trip to Forever 21 for some skirts. I second Caitlin...I find a lot of skirts at the thrift store.
ReplyDeleteI am looking for a knee-length skirt for this summer, this could be perfect, thanks so much for the heads-up! (And I love it with that belt!)
ReplyDeleteI am so buying this skirt in red and blue! Thanks :)
ReplyDeletei love a full, navy skirt! the pink top is a perfect compliment!
ReplyDeleteThat belt is so adorable!

This is one of the best color combos (navy and magenta). You look adorable as usual.
ReplyDeleteLove the outfit with that pretty skirt! I always get excited to find a modest-length skirt in F21, hah! It seems their hems are just getting shorter and shorter. But luckily for me, I'm a very short woman (under 5 feet!) so some things that should be short fit knee length on me!
ReplyDeleteAbout 80% of my skirts are from thrift stores. There's always good options to be found there, and you can find some great deals! I have a couple of awesome J. Crew skirts I found in perfect condition for like $3 each. As with all thrifting, it might take a few trips, but it's so worth it when you walk out with 4 awesome skirts for under $15!
Wow I'm impressed that's a F21 skirt--I really like it and it's not too short!! I love what the necklace and belt add to the outfit--they make it so much fun! I always have good luck with skirts at Target. Their Merona line makes awesome knee length pencil skirts!
ReplyDeleteI like the skirt! Is that the one that comes in white also? I usually don't have great luck with F21 skirts because they always come out so short, but I like the length of this one. I usually find skirts at F21, Charlotte Russe, and Macy's. Sometimes I'll just venture into a random store and find one on sale, but the first 3 that I mentioned are usually where I get my skirts. :) Take care!
ReplyDeleteI love how well the fuchsia pairs with the navy - and the necklace is so cute!
