Black Jeans

Blazer:  Forever 21  |  Top: H&M  |  Black skinnies: Forever 21  |  Belt: Kohl's  |  Wedges: Target  |  Ring: c/o Stella & Dot

Like I mentioned on Monday's post about the rat, I haven't taken new outfit pics, so here's an old one that was never posted.  Black and tan.  Easy enough, right?  Seems effortless, but for whatever reason it took me so long to put these pieces together.  I love when that happens, but at the same time I'm like DUHHH, how did that take so long?

Anyway, Lauren from Seek First asked me if I thought black jeans were a good idea.  A while ago I would have said they were a waste of money as they're so similar to dark blue jeans, but nowadays I'm totally loving the nuance.  Can you tell?  I've got this outfit plus two recent outfits (here and here) with these black skinnies (which were $9.50 at F21, BTW!)  If you're contemplating black jeans, I'd say go for it.  Especially since different colored bottoms will make your wardrobe more versatile.  ;)

  3. I love the simplicity of this look, very classic! I love my black skinny jeans and I could probably wear them every day (except that would get boring!).

  4. Love this! I'm a believer in dark denim too, but I got a pair of black jeans a few months ago and was kind of amazed at how just switching out regular jeans for them can make the same outfit feel slightly more grown up and polished. A great wardrobe addition, I've decided.

  8. This is a very cute outfit.  I love how the turquoise ring pops against the neutrals!

So, last week I was ordering a new swimsuit and I needed just a few dollars more in my cart to get free shipping.  Inspired by you, I bought a pair of dark olive cargo pants (they were on clearance for $11!).

My shipment just arrived and I am so excited!  I tried the pants on to check the fit (which was great) and was shocked that the pants looked fantastic with the turquoise tank I was wearing.  I never would have paired those colors on purpose!

To add to my excitement, my new swimsuit fits perfectly too.  I am very busty so I wear a bra under my swimsuit for support (swimsuits with built in support for my size are $200 and up - not happening).  This suit covers my bra straps, and everything else I want covered, without looking matronly.  Happy, happy, joy, joy!

  9. So awesome to hear about your swimsuit and your cargo pants!  Olive and teal are great together, as are olive and eggplant purple (or most purples, really)...and lots of other colors.  Olive is one of those pseudo-neutrals so try it with everything and see how it goes.  And yay about the swimsuit!  I'm not well endowed in that area (ha!) so I don't have an obstacle there, but $200 sounds so ridiculous!  I'm glad you found one that works.  :)

  10. Yeah, I'll pay $50+ for a supportive bra because I wear it everyday but $200+ for a garment I rarely wear is crazy. Maybe if I had a pool of my own or in my neighborhood but I just need a suit for vacation. Oh, and wearing an old bra under a cheaper suit was a DUHHH moment for me. I had been searching for an affordable, supportive swimsuit since puberty. This new suit is the first time I have ever been really happy with a swimsuit!

  12.  I've noticed that if I post a comment via my blog reader on my iPod it doesn't show up in Firefox on my desktop.  Wierd.  I'll try to use my computer when I post.

  13. I love my black jeans too and wear them all the time! They always make me feel a little more pulled together. I found mine at Walmart of all places for only $13. I love a good deal! :)

  14. Disqus told me that Blogger mobile templates don't support widgets, so when people comment through a mobile device it bypasses Disqus and only shows on Blogger.  It's a bummer, but I still see the comments through Blogger's interface.  I just can't comment back.  :(

  17. Black jeans have totally opened my world... ok my wardrobe! Anyways, I wouldn't think it was THAT different, but they actually open a whole new range of combination. I love the mix with tan here.

  19. Just testing to see if I can comment using Safari instead of my blog reader.

  20.  Wow, that kind of sucks :(  I did a test commenting through Safari instead of through my blog reader and even that doesn't work.  Blogger should really fix that - everyone uses mobile devices!

Until they fix it, I'll just save my comments for when I'm at my desk :)  I love your blog!

  21. My black jeans have become a major staple of my wardrobe--like you, I didn't see the point of them at first (when I have black pants and dark jeans), but they fill a nice middle ground.  I love yours with stripes and tan!  Black and tan has been one of my favorite color combos for my entire life--my mom wears it all the time!

  23. I love your Black Skinny Jeans. I need a pair of true-black skinny jeans. They would be a great bonus for Fall/Winter. I am amazed by how you can find such great and not cheap-looking pieces at F21. For real girl!!
