Striped sweater: Old Navy | Top: Target | Jeggings: NY&Co. | Shoes: lulus.com (won w/ giftcard) | Navy jacket: H&M
Besides not having to worry about getting caught by the neighbors, I'm liking the indoor pics because the colors come out more accurate. Enough picture talk, though. Hardly the point of this blog!
I feel kinda smart and preppy in this outfit. I'm not much for layering an unopened sweater (like, non-cardigan type thing) over a button-up. I've tried it before but never made it out of the house because I felt like I had to tug and pull everything back into its neat little place if I ever moved. (Is that not true for the rest of you? How do you do it? Tell me your secrets!) This sweater isn't as fit so it worked well for layering. Pairing it with a button down denim shirt and topping it off with oxfords was a great way to go about a rainy day earlier this week.

I think that looks great! I'm just starting to try and wear layered shirts/sweaters like that. I really like it!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a cute preppy look - and I love the shoes!

I have never, ever, EVER managed to make the sweater-over-button-up thing work. EVER. I've certainly given it a try but I always fail and don't leave my room with it in. If you discover the secret, please pass it along to me? Anyway, you look ready to take on the rainy day with this (but stylishly).
ReplyDeleteI do the 'sweater over button-up' thing. I do have to shift & pull sometimes, but I also always wear an undershirt with the button down, which probably seems like overkill but I think it's like a 'lining' and helps keep things in place. But maybe you are already doing that.
ReplyDeleteHaha, for me I give it one good pull and it's good to go for the rest of the day unless I try to do gymnastics.. or something. It looks cute, I have a very similar sweater!! :D -Rachel (ftb)

I always feel that way too...tugging and pulling at the sweater and button down. You look so beautiful! I love the indoor photos as well :)
ReplyDeleteMy outfit yesterday was moving all over the place all day long. So annoying. If someone tells you an awesome secret on how to avoid this problem, please share!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I love this outfit. And I'm jealous that you actually have good light in your house. I....do not.
Love the prep school vibe! Yep, you nailed it. The trick is to wear a sweater and shirt that are not super fitted. Friction causes the materials to shift and thus leads to squirming! Also flowy, silky, soft shirt fabric works well for this layered look! Length of the shirt hem helps to in terms of weight and gravity pulling it down so it hangs properly. You know me, Audrey, I loves me some layers.
ReplyDeleteOf course you are smart!! :) Very cute outfit. I tend to squirm when I layer, too, but I really love the layered look. :)
ReplyDeletelove the layered look!! and so lucky you won those shoes!!!

I prefer to layer non - cardis for that reason as well - but sometimes if I put a scarf over - it tends to keep the cardi in place. Love this outfit - and those heeled oxfords are too cute :)
