Purple Top: Gap | Military Jacket: Nordstrom Rack | Skinny Jeans: NY&Co. | Gold Flats: Target | Necklace: Forever 21
The first time I wore this outfit a friend saw me, touched my jacket, and said definitively, "Like Michael Jackson." I gave her a weird look, and said, "UM, or like military inspired?" Since she had no clue what "military-inspired" meant she simply proceeded to explain why my jacket made me look like Michael Jackson. And it's conversations like these that made me start a style blog.
BTW, if you can't tell in these pics, my shirt is dark purple, not black...and I need to note that because I'm a fan of olive and dark purple together. Throw in some gold accents and it might be love. I can't take credit for it. I heard Clinton Kelly gush about it a few times on WNTW and if Clinton is gushing about something you'd better pay attention.

I think everyone needs a jacket like this in their wardrobe. I know I do!

Bahaha, I've gotten a Michael Jackson reference or two, but for some reason it cracks me up so much more to know it happened to you! Maybe you need to invest in a glove, too... anyway, dark purple looks pretty great with a lot of things, but now I'm pondering the olive/purple combo possibilities in my closet... Anyway, you know me: military details and skinnies? Love it.
ReplyDeleteOh for the love of style bloggers!!! If I wear a jacket like yours, I too look like Michael Jackson, when I wear leggings it's Peggy Bundy, wedges to run errands isn't practical and leopard print is certainly not neutral... It's so nice that we bloggers have each other to appreciate and celebrate each other's style :)
ReplyDeleteYou look amazing! I am in love with your military inspired jacket.
I do remember vaguely Clinton Kelley talking about that awesome color combination. I must try it sometime. Too bad I don't own any gold flats!
ReplyDeleteHaha yes! Everything Clinton says is a GO.
ReplyDeleteGosh, that jacket is so darn cute! Such a cute outfit!
ReplyDeleteHi Merrick, thank you for your sweet words! :)
ReplyDeleteHa! The funny part about this is that when I saw a jacket like this the other day I had to mentally correct myself from "Michael Jackson!" to "Military inspired!" Because I would totally wear something military inspired but not Michael Jackson inspired (no offense to MJ).

Hahaha I can just picture this conversation.. military inspired? No.. more like Michael Jackson. Haha! It is really cute. The purple and olive together is adorable.. I'll have to remember that! -Rachel (D.S.I)
ReplyDeleteThis military jacket is FABULOUS.

Oh my gosh, I. LOVE. Clinton. Also, I love dark purple and olive together. And one more thing...haha! I just laughed out loud about the Michael Jackson comment. That's awesome (But I think military inspired) :)
ReplyDeleteI totally see the Micheal Jacksoness of the jacket! =P I think that's what I would've thought first as well like your friend! =P I miss watching What Not to Wear!
