Top: Target | Jacket: Forever 21 | Skirt: Buffalo Exchange, Banana Republic | Wedges: Target
This may sound silly, but it actually took more courage than usual to put this outfit on. I have a weird thing about certain color combinations and usually steer clear of them, namely ones that are associated with popular holidays: red and green (Christmas); red, white and blue (US Independence Day); black & orange (Halloween).
Part of having this style blog is to help me break out of weird rules I make in my head, so this outfit is in honor of that. I don't know what compelled me to do it all in one outfit, but I did it. Yessir, I did. Red and green, AND red, white and blue. BAM. Take that, Holidays. I think it turned out okay, yeah? At the very least, I was clothed and I still love the color of this skirt!

I do the same thing with colors associated with holidays! I think that the stripes and jean jacket break it up and create a very cute and polished look that is still modern. Adorable!

I have the same thing with holiday color combos - but in this outfit, you don't even notice since the red is just a fun pop of color and you've combined several great hues... Also, I have to say I love how the knotted shirt and the denim jacket look with the full skirt - I'll have to keep that in mind for styling my own recently acquired jacket (still wish I hadn't gotten rid of the one I had in high school. I didn't wear it for several years, but now I wanted one again and basically re-bought the one I used to have!)
ReplyDeleteI think you look great! I usually stay away from the red white & blue combo. I love that your outfit mixes it all up. Stopping by from WIWW.
ReplyDeleteWhoa! That's holiday-overload, LOL! I have the same disability to wear some colors together too. For some reason I have a huge aversion to black and orange, it's too halloweenish for me. But I think your outfit looks super cute, especially with those stripes and jean jacket!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your skirt, so pretty! Having a blog definitely helps with breaking silly fashion rules.
ReplyDeleteGreat color combo!
Love that green skirt! The look is great!
ReplyDeleteLove the outfit! The color of the skirt is great and i love that u added the denim jacket!
ReplyDeleteI love it and to be honest you don't look one bit like christmas.. haha ;) I love red and green together but i know how you feel!!

I would never wear JUST red and green, for example, but the stripe and the denim don't make it even cross my mind to think, "omg, Christmas!" You actually did a really good job balancing color, I'd say.
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit!! I'm glad you posted!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great outfit! I love the shape and color of that skirt, the color combos totally worked :)
ReplyDeleteGreen skirt is adorable! I am stopping by from the Pleated Poppy and I realized that I repined one of your outfits on Pinterest yesterday. I knew I recognized your face from somewhere. :)

The best thing about blogs is that it leaves room for trial and error. In this case it's a success!
ReplyDeleteI think you look awesome. There isn't a single thing "holidayish" about this outfit. Yes, I know that wasn't a word LOL
ReplyDeleteThe holidays can eat it! this outfit is awesome. :)
ReplyDeleteHaha! I make up words all the time, usually wish "ish" at the end of them, too. "Holidayish" is a word in my book.
ReplyDeleteI think this is adorable! That skirt is always perfect no matter how you style it. I really like it with the jacket. ;)
ReplyDeleteI totally know what you mean about mixing certain colors... but this looks so perfect, before I read your text I though "stunning!" not "Christmas" not Christmas as all!
ReplyDeleteLove it! You look terrific :)
