(Side note: I want to call this "gingham" but Wikipedia says otherwise--has to do with the lightness of the fabric. So, "plaid shirt" it is...but I'd still rather call it gingham. :D )
Here are 10 ways to wear a shirt like this!
I tried to pull out the basic, general principles for you to easily use as a foundation. From there you can add your own style and flare by using pieces you already own and by creating your own color combinations.
I also made it all one image so that you can pin it for future reference.
I can't wait to wear these looks when the weather cools. I hope you won't mind seeing them on the blog again!

Brilliant! I absolutely love all these ideas (especially 4, 6, 7, and 9), but what I really love is the idea of photographing a bunch of great outfits from your closet to refer to later. I think I will pin it, thank you very much :)
ReplyDeletethe 4th and 9th are my favorite! also, glad you clarified on gingham vs. plaid-my first thought was..."oh no! i have that shirt in red and i tooootally refer to it as gingham. oops!"
ReplyDelete:)
It's funny because a student-teacher we had last year always wore gingham and one day I realized it and teased him about it. I only teased him because I was on the fence myself about the pattern. But, over the summer I got the aqua version of your Old Navy tops. I really wanted the mustard though! I absolutely love the second to last look with the boots!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite look is skinny jeans + boots. I really love how that hat looks on you, as well!
ReplyDeleteYou are such a inspiration... I will most definitely be trying these looks!!!! ~I have to go shopping for a plaid shirt!!!! :D
ReplyDeleteI love all the layered looks. I think my faves are with the vest, the blazer and over the maxi dress. All so cute! Great job. ;)
ReplyDeleteVery cute! Love them all!
ReplyDeleteNice post Audrey! I'm a big fan of "how-to" posts and this is a great one! I love my plaid shirt from J.crew. I'm definitely looking for a second to add to my closet. The Cissus plaid fron Anthro is at the top of my list!
ReplyDeleteI'm in the market for a great plaid shirt! Thanks for posting these, this makes me know how versatile it will really be when I find the perfect one :)
ReplyDeleteI love how you started with coral pants and ended with a coral skirt. And stuck some orange shoes in there too. These are some awesome ideas, Audrey!
ReplyDeleteI know it seems like I stalk your blog, but well...ok I do, but I love this! I am a huge fan of plaid, but always need more inspiration. I think my favorite look is number 9.
ReplyDeleteI've often considered buying the same thing in multiple colors... maybe I shall have to do just that next time it strikes my fancy. Thanks for showing off all the styling options (and by all, I mean the tip of the iceberg)!
ReplyDeleteso fun! it's great to find such a versatile piece. i love the blue one paired under the blazer!
ReplyDeleteI love this! Definitely going to refer to this as I have the Old Navy shirt in red.
ReplyDeleteNothing wrong with it, especially since they're two different colors. I got two from Old Navy, blue and aqua, and a gray one from Target. And I almost bought the pink one from J.Crew.
ReplyDeleteLove the different ways you styled the shirts, looking good.
Such a cute print on you... I'd much rather call it gingham, too.
ReplyDeleteYou look great. Love the variety of looks. Thanks for sharing and for the inspiration. Now I have to go find me a gingham shirt ;)

ReplyDeleteI LOVE the Cissus plaid. I try not to look at Anthro ads/catalogs because I can't stand how much I love that shirt...but I also personally can't stomach paying the money for it! If you get it, I can live vicariously through you. :)
ReplyDeleteHaha, well it's okay cuz I stalk your blog too. My fave is also number 9!

I have had a few button ups in the back of my closet for a while that I was going to give up on, now I have a few ideas of how to use them again. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to hear that, Sarah!
ReplyDeleteAh! Read this for the first time wearing basicly the same exact shirt! Funny! I am wearing it with a combo of two bottom center outfits, with black pants and a cardigan over it! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat idea for a blog post!
WOW GIRLIE YOU ARE SOOOO CREATIVE. You have reinvented that shirt ten times, for sure. I love both colors too and I would have picked up two myself. ;-) Every single outfit is great bu I prefer outfit #s 1, 4, 6, 7 & 9. =)
ReplyDeleteAudrey I simply love the way you have vamped so many versatile looks with your items of clothing. Do you have a large closet with re-vamping your style choices, or have you learned to condense your clothing articles? I really love the colored pants that you have displayed in your blog, where do you shop for them. I am a woman with a small budget in which to shop with. Keep Blogging!!!
ReplyDeleteFirst time visitor here! I guess I found this a little late, but honestly this is amazing! I don't consider myself "style challenged" in the sense that (I believe) I've got nice pieces that compliment me and are trendy (I guess), but I don't make the most use of one item and mix and match. You've got quite a gift! Keep it up (Y)
ReplyDeleteI just stumbled across your blog- from Pinterest, I think. And I am loving it! And now I need to add "plaid shirt" to my clothing shopping list, lol.
