Tag, You're It. All of You.

Dress turned into Top: Forever 21  |  Shorts: NY&Co.  |  Flats: Gap Outlet  |  Belt: Forever 21  |  Bracelet: Target

Originally I wanted to wear this outfit with shoes like these:

Wouldn't that have been so hot?  I think those shoes would have changed and defined this outfit.  But I'm not wearing those shoes because although I found the mock pair at Target on clearance, when I tried to walk in them I thought I might break my ankles.  (How do people do it?)  I chose to keep my ankles in tact and had to return them.  Sad times.  I've been on the lookout for a pair of wedges with a thick black strap which I think would have the same effect.  It's one of those items that when I put on outfits I think, "Man, a pair of those would be really helpful right now."

Anyway!  So, I was tagged in the One Lovely Blog Award thing like a month and a half ago from Alyssa and I kept forgetting to do it!  So here it goes.  Seven random facts about myself:

  1. I had hair down to my waist until I was about 23.  My hair grows like weeds, so I've donated hair to Locks of Love three times.
  2. I took Tae Kwon Do when I was younger.  Through out high school I played volleyball and did track & field.
  3. I considered majoring in Spanish Lit in college.  I love Spanish, but I'm glad I chose a different major!
  4. I barely talk about it on this blog, but singing and music takes up most of my time--for both my work and non-work environments.
  5. When I turned 18 I pierced my belly button.  It's in the top three most painful things I've endured (since I haven't birthed children yet).  And 10 years later, my mom still doesn't know it's pierced.  Ha.
  6. It's pretty hard to gross me out.  However, I do get grossed out by my the two things I fear most: 1) Birds.  I've been pooped on plenty and have stories to tell.  2) Getting my eyeballs poked out...or anyone's eyeballs getting poked out, really.
  7. Two of my favorite sounds are of heavy rain hitting my rooftop and of children laughing!  (Coincidentally, Van just wrote on her blog, "Is there anything better than a child's laughter?"  Nope, there isn't.)

And now I have to tag people.  I'd actually love to tag you ALL.  Really.  So I'm tagging you, and if you want to comment with 7 random things about you please do!  Or write it on your own blog and link it below because I'd love to know more about you!  Really, really, really.  I mean it.  :)

But I'm gonna call out the following people in hopes to add peer pressure and make you more likely to do it!  :D

This is my chance to get to know more about each of you.  Please don't leave me hanging and don't be shy!

  1. Audrey, you must tell a bird story. That's a very interesting thing to
be grossed out by. You poor thing!! (Don't ever watch Hitchcock's
"The Birds". They don't poop, but they are vicious killer birds). Also, I can't picture you with long hair, do you plan to grow it out again or keep it short for awhile? Lastly, thank you for the shout-out! I've been meaning to do a "random facts" post in response to a blog award from another bloggy friend (also given over a month ago). I will make it a point to do a post for this! Kill two "birds" with one stone.

  3. I actually have those shoes and I can walk in them. It took some practice though

  4. I fear swans! And now I am thinking about how much I could use a pair of wedges with a thick black strap. Audrey, I think we may be twins.

  5. Oh, I love your outfit, gorgeous lady! I agree with the shoes- fierce, but totally unwalkable! I love your list of things and I'm glad that childbirth wasn't one of your gross-out things, because in the short amount of time we've spent together I'm pretty sure there was a significant amount of childbirth talk! :)

I'm totally going to do this...I just need to think of my 7 things! :)

  6. You are right, those shoes would have made the outfit. I'm still not sure how I wear 4-5" heels. I definitely opt out on school days (walking 5+ miles seems ridiculous in shoes like that). You're still adorable, anyway. I'm already pondering my facts. They might take a few days to end up on the blog, but I'm so down.

  7. That is a very cute outfit! I absolutely adore black & white combinations! I had to LOL at the fact your mom still doesn't know you pierced your belly button. Isn't it funny how even as adults, we still dont tell? Hope you have a great day!

  9. Really? Those shoes are uncomfortable? That makes me feel a little bit better that I wasn't able to find them at my Target because i was in love with them!

And hair to your waist? POST PICTURES PLEASE!!! :)

just thinking about eyeballs getting poked out gives me the shivers. UGH. so gross.

  10. I love to go into Target to try on random heeled shoes for fun.  Those look like they would definitely make me break my neck, LOL.  And Spanish Lit?  That's so different!  I would have never guessed that.  Singing and music for work?  How so?  Now I'm interested.  Oh, I love rain hitting the rooftops too!

I'll have to come up with seven things soon.  But I promise to post them when I do!  Thanks for tagging me.

  11. Haha, okay.  Bird stories will come someday in another post, just for you, Van.  Right before my last haircut (3 months ago, ha) I wanted to grow out my hair.  But then I couldn't stand the awkward phase and chopped it off again.  Seeing what other bloggers do with their long hair makes me want to grow it out again, but it probably won't actually happen for a while.  I look forward to your random facts post!

  13. Definitely channeling some twin energy.  I was eyeing these wedges: Women's Crochet Cross-Front Wedges They're on sale PLUS there's a 20% off online or 30% w/ Friends & Family in store until the end of tomorrow.

  14. Yeah, I think it'd be kind of weird and unnecessary to tell my mom after all these years.  And I also just keep forgetting that I have the piercing, so I never think to tell her anyway!

  15. Hahaha, wellllll other people seem like they can walk in them.  But I definitely couldn't.  Well I could, but I would have looked awkward.  And okay, okay, I will post pics of my long hair for you, Kimmie.

  16. Yup, Spanish Lit...almost, but not quite.  I dunno how to explain concisely on this comment why I'm singing and playing music all the time, but in a nutshell it includes a lot of events and developing college student musicians.  I had an event last Friday, last night, and one coming up this Thursday--a lot this week since school just started. And then for church this weekend I spent Saturday at band rehearsal and played for two services on Sunday.  My life is so full of music!

  17. Yeah, I really don't understand how some girls do it!!  Props to them!  I also love getting my shoes from Target.  A good amount of my shoes do come from there.

I had my belly button pierced for 3 months, but maybe I was bad and didn't take good care of it and it got grossly infected!  =P

Maybe one day, we can hear you sing!  I'm always in awe of people with beautiful singing voices!   And, if they can play their own instruments and sing at the same time, I'm even more amazed!  :D

  18. Yeah, it's been a battle to grow out my hair, but when it does behave, I enjoy styling it and this makes me want to continue in this process! I'm thinking of coloring it again (after 5 years au nateral) and it's also not been cut for a year... in bad need of some shape. Will probably do this in a few weeks.

  19. They are way cute! & they don't look as bulky/teeter-tottery as the other shoes you posted. More walkable!

  20. I love this outfit, so so chic. You look like a little bombshell missy!  I dont wear super high heels that often but the few I have that I can walk in have a little platform, it somehow makes the higher heel less high... if that makes sense... its like the platform to heel height ratio makes a 3.5 inch heel feel like a 2 inch heel.

Thanks for the tag BTW, I will be posting my factoids tomorrow!xoxo

  21. Yeah, I can do a 3.5--the wedges I normally wear are that high.  But those heels above are like nearly 4" and something about the curved bottom at the toe just made me feel so unstable.  I'm a really fast walker too, so I'm sure that doesn't help a 4" heel feel stable!

  24. I was reading this post earlier today and then, lo and behold, I stumbled upon some shoes on endless.com that I think might fit you bill! They are the Rosegold Women's Tanya Platform Sandal and they actually look quite a bit like the Target/Seychelles ones. They're a 4 inch heel, but with a 1 inch platform so they're really only 3 inches :) You've inspired me to try shorts with heels! Here's hoping for success!

  25. Ohmigosh, thank you Chelsea!  Those definitely look much more comfortable and they do fit the bill!
