Green Machine

Top: Forever 21  |  Belt: H&M  |  Skirt: Banana Republic via Buffalo Exchange (shop similar)  |  Wedges: Target

In 2004 an artist named Toby Lightman covered Mary J. Blige's hit "Real Love."  In her music video she wore a vibrant green pleated midi and I've wanted a skirt that color ever since.

When I spotted this green skirt Buffalo Exchange, I was all over it like white on rice.  I think my heart may have skipped a beat, and I may have hip-checked a girl as I bulldozed my way over to it.  You've gotta do what you've gotta do.

I can't get the color quite right in the pics (I'm no photographer...) but in person this green is so vibrant, and I LOVE IT.  It's Banana Republic, and it's 30% silk so it has a pretty subtle sheen to it.  And I also might have shrieked a little in the dressing room when I discovered it had pockets!

Toby made her green skirt outfit a little more funky with green suede pumps, a tank top, and a cropped jean jacket, and even though that was 7 years ago I'd totally rock that--but another day.  I wanted this skirt's blog debut to be sweet and simple.  I'm still in disbelief that I own this piece!  :D  Do you all have pieces that you are this excited about, or am I just silly?

  5. I would be excited about that skirt. I get excited over great purchases all the time. I may or may not have done a happy dance at the Macy's counter when I found the prettiest gunmetal Rachel Roy shoes in my size and marked down!

  9. I would have hip checked her too! that skirt is awesome. You & Van are making me seriously regret the two large trashbags full of mostly new clothes I dropped off this morning. I just couldn't look at the bags anymore ... but I am dying to try Buffalo Exchange! I hear we have a nice one in town.

  10. Audrey I looooooove the skirt! Hipcheck? I would have knocked her out with a candlestick. You are super lucky to find that skirt! It's just gorgeous. I get pretty excited about a couple of pieces in my closet, things that I really really love to wear and make me happy when I wear them. They're awesome boosts when my day isn't going great!

  11. Loving that green!  I've been searching for the perfect lace tee, but a lot of the lace options only seem to show up without sleeves or they're extremely sheer.  Do you find that one too sheer?

  12. Audrey! That. is. too. funny. I would have karate chopped her from across the store! That
skirt is PRETTY. Can definitely see you wearing it into fall with earth tones. One of my techniques for knowing when an item is a keeper, is the swish test. If I immediately wanna dance around, then it's going home with me. Great find!

STACY!! NOooooOOOoooooO. If we lived near one another, I would have marched over to your house and taken those clothes to the Buffalo for you. Maybe one of these days you will have a spare moment sans kiddos to peruse the shop.

  13. It's definitely sheer, so I wear a cami underneath.

  14. I've only been to Buffalo Exchange that one time, but I think I'm already hooked.  I can't believe you gave away two trash bags full of mostly new clothes!  Hopefully whenever you go to Buffalo Exchange you'll be able to find some great replacements.  Let us know what you find whenever you go, Stacy!
