Would you also believe it if I told you I've had a sewing machine for 8-10 years and didn't know how to use it? Whenever I saw bloggers like Jodi, Rachel, and Bri hem something, cut off sleeves, or take in a garment, I wanted to pull out my hair because they made things look so darn cute, and all I could use my sewing machine for was to collect dust. But, that's all about to change because I finally learned to use it this weekend! So watch out, world, watch out. Some horribly hemmed garments are about to come your way. You won't even know what hit ya.

That's exciting! I bet you'll get the hang of it and be able to make some killer modifications. I also wish that I had some clothes that had stood the test of time, but losing weight throws a wrench in those plans, haha.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what you create!
ReplyDeleteI recently realized I could tuck shirts into high-waisted skirts too...it's like a whole new world! :) Also, I can't wait to see what you get done with that sewing machine of yours. You'll do great! Nothing can be as horrible as some of my hems (but thanks for the sweet shout out!).
ReplyDeleteI love this look with the red shoes and high-waisted skirt! Thanks for the shout-out :) I can't wait to see what you come up with! And I also can't wait to get my sewing machine out and fixed up - I have a huge stack of projects!! -Rachel (D.S.I)
ReplyDeleteI have one high waisted skirt and it's my go-to skirt for looking streamlined. I wish sewing was that easy for me, it would be amazing to be able to tailor things to your own liking.
ReplyDeleteThat shirt is adorable. I love having old clothes that stands the test of time, all of mine gets thrown out quickly. Such a cute look!
ReplyDeleteLosing weight also is an excuse to buy new clothes. Good for you! Can I ask how much you lost?
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lindsay! I'm practicing on clothes I don't care about. Good thing too, because I'm creating some very ugly things right now. :)
ReplyDeleteOoh! can't wait to see what you make/alter. Having a sewing machine is so much fun. I just wish I weren't so lazy, haha!
ReplyDeleteI love that skirt! And, seriously, after a few tries using your machine will be like nothing. I had a few horrific hem jobs and ever since I just go merrily on my way altering things to fit as I please. It's the best thing ever.
ReplyDeleteYay! You'll be a fellow refashioner in no time. Sewing is such an awesome skill to have. You look fabulous today!
ReplyDeleteI too have a sewing machine that doesnt get a lot of use... I was considering taking a sewing class at JoAnn Fabric just to learn some basic skills... also YouTube is great, I learned how to hem dressy pants by watching a video from there.
ReplyDeleteI love that you mixed Black with browns for this outfit! So cute. I also love that the top has been around the block. There are a few items that I have that I just cant part with, even when they arent "in style"
