You Live, You Learn. #16 and #17

Outfit #16: Forever 21 top, shorts, belt | Target blazer | DSW flats
Outfits #17: Forever 21 top & belt | New York & Co. jeans | Target wedges

When: July 8, 2011

Another double header with outfits 16 & 17.  This is what I wore on the day we left for vacation.  I wore outfit #16 during the day and changed into jeans to get on the plane that evening.

I'm not sure I like the first outfit.  I like the idea of a blazer with shorts, but this top was giving me a hard time.  I would rather have not belted it, but it was too loose for the blazer.  Also, I think the pastel/light color thing with the added bonus of lace just isn't me.  I like that look on other people, but I'm concluding that bolder, brighter colors and patterns suit my personality better...and my skin tone!

So, I'm not in love with the outfit but I learned something, and I at least feel good about that.  :)  You live, you learn, right?  Right.

  1. I can support your preference of bright and bold, but I think the neutral-y and lace look is going well for you, too. My only thought with outfit 16 is all of the pieces are slightly square so maybe there is too much geometry happening up there. You still look cute as ever, though.

  4. Lace tees are so versatile.  Both looks manage to be both super cute and put together.

  5. I think both looks are great! I wonder if maybe a high heel rather than flats would change how you feel about outfit #16? It could also be a bright colored heel. That usually does the trick for me.

  6. you can try pinning the back of your shirt if it is too big. always works for me!

  7. Ooh, great idea.  Unfortunately this shirt is lace and on the more delicate side.  I'll keep that in mind for the future though.  Thanks!

  9. I love both of them -- such similar pieces but with such a different outcome. And my solution for pining shirts that are too delicate is to pin on the inside, keeping the bulk of the pin on the lining, and it seems to work pretty well.

  10. I like the blazer and top with the shorts - very cute. But, I love that top with the dark jeans. Perfect!

  11. I really love blazers with shorts!  Maybe with a bright fitted top that outfit would be perfect!
